Peter Seddon's recent move to the coast has begun to significantly influence his work. The strong traditions of the fishing community with the fierce loyalty to the lifeboat station demand research into a series of historical events which provide a good starting point for imagery which is derived from a new perspective on water and rocks. Although the study of water (its movement, speed, direction, force and noise) has always been an influence, the nature of these characteristics is very different in the sea and the way it abuts the land. Force and power seem to assume more significance and have a greater effect on the lives of people who depend on the sea for their livlihood. The immediate coast where Peter Seddon lives has a variety of different characteristics that provide an interesting basis for current work.
He has also recently started to throw pots once again, the decorations on which derive from the same starting points that influence his larger hand built pieces.
